Worrycast

Overview

Worrycast is a behavioral experiments app that helps you test your predictions about worrying situations. By recording what you expect to happen and comparing it to what actually occurs, you build better intuition about what's worth worrying about. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, who processes it, and how you can control it. It covers the Worrycast apps for iOS and Android and the web app at worrycast.com.

Data We Collect

Account information - When you sign in with Google or Apple, we store your user ID, email address and the name you choose to be called.
Your predictions and records - The predictions you make, what you expected and what actually happened, your evidence and your statistics, stored on our servers so they sync across your devices.
Daily check-ins - The worry level you record each day, if you use check-ins.
AI Coach and Wall sessions - If you use the optional AI Coach, the conversation and the notes it produces for a prediction (see "AI Coach" below).
Support messages - Messages you send us through the in-app support chat, and our replies.
Subscription status - Which Worrycast Premium plan you have (if any) and when it renews or ends, as reported by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
App preferences - Settings such as reminder times, notification preferences, theme and your app lock PIN.
Device and app information - Your device type, operating system and app version, time zone and a notification token, used to deliver reminders at the right time and to fix problems.
Usage records - Which screens you open and what you tap in the app, linked to your account, so we can find bugs and see where the app is confusing. They can include what was on screen at that moment, such as a prediction you wrote. Passwords and email addresses are never recorded. These records are deleted automatically after 30 days.

AI Coach (optional)

Worrycast can offer an optional AI Coach, provided by OpenAI, that helps you make a prediction more testable and look at what your own record already holds. It only runs if you turn it on and agree to it. When you use it, the prediction you are working on and the related Worrycast data for that prediction are sent to OpenAI to generate suggestions. Under OpenAI's API terms, nothing you send is used to train its models. You can stop at any time, withdraw your consent, and delete every conversation the Coach saved, from Profile > Coach data. Withdrawing consent stops the Coach from offering to help again.

Third-Party Services

Firebase Authentication and Cloud Messaging (Google) - Sign-in and reminder notifications. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
OpenAI - Only for the optional AI Coach, as described above. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
MongoDB Atlas - Hosts our database.
Apple/Google In-App Purchases - Billing is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We do not see your payment details.

Data Sharing

We never sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing or advertising. The services above only process your data on our behalf to run Worrycast; OpenAI only receives data when you use the AI Coach.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. Predictions are associated with your account and are not accessible to other users. Communication between the apps and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS.

Data Deletion

In the app: open Profile and choose Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account and all its data: your profile, predictions, outcomes, evidence, statistics, daily check-ins, AI Coach and Wall sessions, and support messages.

On the web: sign in at worrycast.com/app/account with the same Google or Apple account and press Delete account. It deletes the same data.

By email: if you can't sign in any more, email roderiklagerweij@gmail.com with the subject "Worrycast account deletion" from the address you signed in with. We delete your account and data within 30 days.

What is kept: usage records expire on their own within 30 days. A minimal record that your account opened the app and whether it subscribed is kept for our business statistics; it contains none of your predictions or other content. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.

Children's Privacy

Worrycast is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
